According to data released by the Shanghai Customs, a total of 1,851 related equipment was imported throughout the year, with a total value of $43,2 billion, with an average single price of $233 million each, which is not only higher than the average single price at Shanghai Port, but also slightly higher than 1% of the national average single price.

In December 2023, the city of Shanghai imported 148 such devices, worth $2.93 billion, with an average single price of $198 million. Though the amount of imports declined by 18.7%, the value of imports grew dramatically by 68% compared to the same year. This data shows that the demand for high-end semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Shanghai remains strong despite changing market demands.

Over the course of the year, the volume of imports in Shanghai decreased by 10.6%, but the value of imports increased by 34.3%. This trend reflects the citys investment intensity in the semiconductor industry is increasing, but also faces the difficulty of rising costs.

Compared to other regions, Shanghai Port imported 350 related equipment in November, with a merchandise value of $3.82 billion, with an average single price of $10.9 million. In 2023, Shanghai Port imported a total of 3,717 devices, with a merchandise value of $63,9 billion, with an average single price of $17.2 million.

Nationwide, China imported a total of 1,1885 machines and devices for the manufacture of semiconductor devices or integrated circuits in 2023, worth $274 billion, with an average single price of $231 million.This figure reflects the countrys strong demand for high-end semiconductor equipment.
